Office Ladies: Rituals of Overflow

"Office Ladies: Rituals of Overflow" is an AI photographic series that explores the themes of artificial intelligence and gender norms. It attempts to visualize the latent gender biases within contemporary society by superimposing AI doppelgängers—generated from Emi Kusano's own physical data—onto the stereotype of the “Office Lady” (OL).

In this body of work, the rituals of “roles” historically imposed upon women are shown to be repeated and amplified by technology, causing them to overflow their conventional boundaries. The work presents the ambiguous possibility of whether AI will become a device that reproduces past prejudices or a catalyst that deconstructs existing social structures.
